My Scotch on the Rocks Pledge!

Ok I know I put this in the bottom of my last post but I think its needs its own posting.......

I have a pledge to make about for Scotch on the Rocks , as it's by developers for developers and with helping Stephen and Andy out and knowing we are almost at the 3 quarters of the way for selling out I make this pledge:

Ticket Numbers 75 & 100 will receive 25 GBP from me (21.80 GBP + 3.20 GBP PayPal Cost) So that means for two lucky attendees it will only cost them 63.20 GBP for the two days packed of fun, or if you pay by bank transfer its means it only costs you 60 GBP

So you have no excuse in not buying a ticket now!

Come on people the reason it's so cheap is because no-one is making any money out of it. No Fat Cats Here!!!! (May be by giving my money away I'll be a little less fat)

Alan Williamson's Gravatar As a speaker at the upcoming Scotch, i am some what disappointed to read this rather desperate plea for ticket sales.

This is not the first time i have heard the "we are likely to lose money" tagline and I wonder why?

Why would you produce a conference that loses money? Why would you tell people you are losing money? Is it to get the sympathy purchase? Support your local charity, sorry, conference?

Come on guys, you have an excellent line up, great sessions, and some world class speakers attending. Sell it on its merits and not look for the pity vote.

Big Mad Kev's Gravatar It was a tongue in cheek comment, as the main point I wanted to make was that it was for Developers by Developers, I have a previous posting: http://inner-rhythm.co.uk/blog/index.cfm/2007/4/4/... that does have the line up included and is something we are all pushing.

I don't think there is anything wrong with being an Open and Truthful Conference and maybe my tongue in cheek comment was over the line but its the way I am :-p
