Friday Thought: WorkStation Set-up

This week my new 20" Wide Screen Monitor turned up from HP Refurbs, I got it for οΎ£132 on their eBay shop. Has the same resolution as my Mac Book Pro Screen so works a treat.

So here is my work station set up.

It's currently a quick set up in a quite part of the office so I can get a job done with minimal interruptions and the ability to Zone out.

I have my SPV 3100 Windows Mobile syncing with the mac now using The Missing Sync OK the latest version is a bit buggy and hopefully it will become more stable but does what I need for now.

I've had a fan on my desk for the last 6 years, I prefer to control my own temperature meaning that if someone is cold or hot they don't have to bother me I'm OK Jack :) I prefer being cold anyway as you can always warm up with more clothes but being too hot just sucks.

I had to get a chair that suited me, and working for a small company I thought hell I got that money from HSBC I'll get myself a decent chair that will help my posture and dam is it!!!

The we have the great Mac Book Pro I don't know how I worked without it, so simple and fast!!!! Now with the extra monitor it makes developing web applications so much easier with windows everywhere and of course the new friend twitter and iChat :)

I decided to get a Pair of USB Headphone that will always stay with my mac Book as sometimes I forget to take my Bluetooth ones with me plus MAC OSX 10.4 doesn't have A2DP yet so the quality is really bad. Also means if I decided to do a podcast or vidcast the audio is digital all the way.

Finally I've always had a pint glass normally either a Stella or Guinness one at the moment just a bog standard one but its does the trick. As everyone has I'm sure I have my favorite mug, mine being the one with my name on (And people still try to use it grrrr) I got it for XMAS my first year at Sky from my then Manager and it's been with me ever since ahhhhh.

I know Mark Drew and some others have done this in the past but what is everyone else's set up out there?

Goodbye o2 Hello Orange

I know this is ment to be a CF Blog but hay this is technology :-)

Well after waiting months for O2 (One of the UK's Largest Cell Phone Operators) to release the HTC TYTN (HERMES) I have decided to cancel my contract with O2 and move over to Orange who do supply the phone as SPV M3100

Ok So I had to pay 49.99 for the phone but at least I get the phone I've wanted for so long, The reason I want it is because I did have the XDA IIi and lost my third one and thought it would be too much to claim again. So why get the same again when I can get the much better thing, there was the O2 mini but this one is the one up and has a better camera and 3g whooo.

Should be delivered Saturday so will let you all know how I get on with it :-)

Time for a Mobile (Cell) Phone Upgrade

Well I'm coming to the end of my current contract with 02, and thus is time for a new phone.

My current fav for the upgrade is the O2 XDA EXEC, I currently have the O2 XDA IIi with blackberry and it rocks. But current o2 haven't done blackberry for the exec and I'm not sure if they will be as Windows Mobile 2005 has push Email now.

But surfing around today I came across Christian Cantrell's blog and he mentions the T-Mobile Sidekick II which is a cheap alternative, not seen much on it so may have to research a bit on this.

If anyone has any thoughts on what I should go for please feel free to comment.
