I got thinking today that now that I have totally moved over to the Mac for my development needs I need to document somewhere what I have installed and what certain replacement applications I use for the PC ones I once used.

VMware Fusion going after Parallels

So yesterday VMWare announced the pricing for VMWare Fusion priced at $80 means it will match Parallels but if you pre order it you can get it for $40, Which can be purchased any time up to the launch of the product which VMWare Expect to be in August 2007.

Looking at the feature set I think they are both roughly the same. I guess I will go with VMWare as that should mean (I haven't tested but will do this week) that my current Images will boot up :) As well as VMWare being the first at this virtualisation marlerky I guess they are good to stay with.

I guess if anyone wants me to do another Visualisation Presentation for UKCFUG/SCFUG Give me a shout, as the Physical to Virtual software that VMWare are giving away free really does rock.

BBC News show another use of vmware

I just read an interesting story on how BBC News used a machine with VMWARE installed to create a HoneyPot machine to show how many times an unprotected machine will be hit, and thus shows the underlying machine is untouched.
